Our Staff

Dental Hygienists

AmyAmy, Dental Hygienist

I was born in Gainesville, Georgia, but grew up in Lavonia, Georgia. Prior to being hired as a dental hygienist in this practice in June 2000, I worked as an assistant for 2 ½ years. When I was little, I always thought the dental office was a fascinating place. I enjoy the interaction with people, and I especially enjoy the satisfaction of knowing what I do helps improve their health. Outside the dental office, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, reading and working in the yard.

GailGail, Registered Dental Hygienist

I am from Madison, Georgia, and have 30 years experience in the dental profession. My employment with this practice began in 1988. I am very passionate about dentistry because it helps people in many ways with their health. It is very rewarding and such a blessing to see what a difference one person can make. Some of my favorite pastime activities include golfing, boating, traveling, sports, teaching swimming lessons, and spending time with family and friends.

VictoriaVictoria, Dental Hygienist

I am from Madison, Georgia, and have been a dental hygienist since 1997. Prior to joining this practice in December 2006, I worked in Stone Mountain, Georgia. I chose dental hygiene because it gave me the opportunity to help provide people with the oral health care that will greatly enhance their quality of life. The most rewarding part of my profession is meeting people for what might become a lifelong relationship. Outside the office, I enjoy traveling, container gardening, and spending time with my family.

Surgical Assistants

JanJan, Surgical Assistant

I am from Danielsville, Georgia, and have been in the dental profession since 1991. My employment with this practice began in 1999. I enjoy helping people. It is fun meeting new people each day. I started going to the dentist as a child and had a wonderful experience. My other interests include gardening, walking when I can and spending time with my family. I am very much a TV person, too. I am the biggest Andy Griffith fan in the world. TV Land is my favorite channel because they show all the old shows that I watched as a child.

TammyTammy, Surgical Assistant

I am from Athens, Georgia, and joined the practice in March 2005. When I meet someone for the first time, their smile is always the first thing I notice. Therefore, I thought a job in the dental profession would be a way to work in a field that helps people improve and maintain their smiles. I enjoy being with my children, reading, and gardening.

Administrative Assistance

BobbieBobbie, Business Manager

Although I was born in San Francisco, California, I grew up in Georgia. Prior to joining the practice in 2002, I worked in the banking industry for 25 years. I joined this practice for a change in career. I have two children and three grandchildren. My interests include going to movies and the beach with friends, reading and gardening.

BarbaraBarbara, Administrative Assistant

I am from Brooklyn, New York, and joined the practice in 1996. Prior to that, I worked in the banking industry. I joined this practice for a change in career. Our son lives out of state, so my first interest is seeing him. I also love to be outdoors, and I enjoy reading.

JanJan, Administrative Assistant

I was born in Georgia and have 29 years experience in the dental field. I graduated from college with a dental hygiene degree in the late 1970s. I worked in general dentistry for several years before switching to periodontics. I initially began working for Dr. Pylant as a dental hygienist in 1989. Several years ago, Dr. Pylant offered me the opportunity to become part of the front office administrative staff. I enjoy working with the patients and staff. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, flower gardening, bird watching, my pets and reading.

KarenKaren, Medical Transcriptionist

Chicago, Illinois, is where I was born and raised. I moved to Athens, Georgia, in 1982, but did live in San Diego, California, for three years in the mid-1970's. My interest in working in a medical environment began in the pharmacy department of a local Athens hospital in 1983 as a part-time transcriptionist and pharmacy technician. Due to having small children, I was able to secure at-home transcription work with several local doctors, including Dr. Pylant, for whom I have been working since August 1987. My favorite pastimes include dabbling on the computer (especially with digital pictures and movies), gardening, decorating and yoga. I am married and have three girls.

ReneRene, Digital Imaging/Office Assistant

Athens is my birthplace and hometown. I joined the practice in the summer of 2006 to work part-time while I attend the University of Georgia as a full-time student. My major is Newspapers (with Photojournalism emphasis) and my minors are Spanish and Linguistics. Being given the opportunity to work as a digital imager/office assistant for Dr. Pylant, I am able to practice the skills I need for the future while contributing to society (helping other people/improving the lives of others). Volunteer-wise, I am the Photography Coordinator on the Executive Board for Safe Campuses Now, as well as the Photo Editor for The Informer magazine. I also volunteer at the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter when time allows. In my spare time, I love writing, photography, web design, dancing, making jewelry and art. I also have an insatiable obsession with weddings and aspire to work with wedding magazines in the future.
